Music
At HCLC, we offer an extensive and diverse array of musical ensembles to accommodate many stylistic preferences through our diverse Traditional and Contemporary Worship Experiences as well as to band together and create beautifully rich and new ways of blending musical ideas for special times of the year.
At our 8:30 a.m. Traditional Worship Experience, you’ll be led in Lutheran liturgy as well as the singing of three hymns by organ or piano. Our Chancel Choir will provide a weekly Offertory Anthem from Labor Day through Pentecost, with occasional summer appearances. Our 8:30 Handbell Ensemble provides a monthly prelude, our Children’s Choir also makes approximate monthly appearances, and a multitude of prepared and improvised organ and piano preludes, postludes and more pad out the musical elements of our Traditional time of Worship.
At our 10:30 a.m. Contemporary Worship Experience, Worship begins instantly with the singing of a few Contemporary Christian Worship songs, led by our Praise Band. They also provide an Offertory Anthem, Meditative Communion Music, and a Sending Song. Our Praise Band also occasionally leads Worship through the summer. Our 10:30 Handbell Ensemble provides a monthly prelude and our Children’s Choir also makes approximate monthly appearances.
In the summer, we host one Combined Worship Experience at 9:30 a.m. There is no set musical template during this time rather, a blending of all that HCLC’s music ministries have to offer, culminating in a month-long series of themed weeks based around secular genres of music in August.
All ensembles also actively participate in Special Worship Experiences throughout the year, outside of our routine Sunday schedule including Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, Holy Week Worship (i.e. Holy Thursday, Good Friday) and many other unique Worship opportunities.
