HISTORY OF HOLY COMMUNION

Holy Communion Luthern ChurchWe began in 1983 as a Mission Congregation. So we are about 23 years old. Like any 23 year old we are young, vigorous and eager. We presently have a membership of about 320 folks and average about 120 people in worship on Sunday at our two services. We have Bible studies, Youth groups, and a group for retired folks, an active choir and music program. Our services include one traditional and one contemporary on Sunday mornings.

STAFF

Our Pastor is Dr. John K. Burk who celebrates the 20th anniversary of his ordination this year. Pastor John is a Maryland native having grown up on a dairy farm near Reisterstown, Baltimore County. He graduated college from the University of Maryland College Park in 1972 (Go Terps) and has graduate degrees from McDaniel College in Counseling, Gettysburg Seminary in Theology and Philadelphia Lutheran Seminary in Ministry. He is married to Debbie who teaches Family Studies at Loch Raven High School and they have three grown children; Sam, Jake and Eliza. Pastor John lived five years in Africa serving in the US Peace Corps and doing mission work — so he eats almost anything.
