FIRST COMMUNION CLASSES TO BEGIN
On Sunday, February 21 we
will be having a First
Communion class for children.
Class will be at 11:15am with a
pizza and salad meal
immediately following worship.
The church has no official age
for children to begin
communing. I recommend their
being in second grade but it is
not a hard and fast rule. If your
child has asked a lot of questions
and has expressed the desire to
commune you may want to
consider letting them attend the
classes.

WOMEN’S RETREAT
OUR SECOND WOMEN'S RETREAT will
be held on Saturday, May 1, at Camp Wo-
Me-To. Our speaker will be Carol Jensen.
The theme this year is Recipe for Faith and
our topic will be Women of the Bible. Cost
is $20. Mark your calendars now. More
information to follow but you can see or talk to Pat
Kellerman for more information.
- Our topic will be about women in the Bible especially
the two sisters, Mary and Martha. Mrs. Jensen has
given Serenity Retreats based on the stories of women
in the New Testament. She has completed Chestnut
Hill College’s three year certificate program in Spiritual
Direction and topics includes forgiveness, prayer and
play serenity, spiritual awakenings, and praying with
the seasons. At present, she is preparing a series of
evenings of reflection on women of the New Testament
and an afternoon reflection on how women pass faith
from generation to generation.
- Bring your Bible, Mrs. Jensen wants us to have quiet
time for reflection and prayers. She is willing to talk
with individuals during our breaks and lunch. If you
have more questions about our speaker, ask Jan or
Dave Warren. They spent a whole weekend retreat
with Mrs. Jensen as their leader.
- Devotions, Holy Communion and songs of praise and
worship will open our day. We will remain in the
Fellowship Hall for our lunch. We will use another
option for lunch rather than the camp
providing the lunch.
- In the future, there will be a basket in
the Narthex in which you can place
one of your favorite recipes, the name
of one of your favorite books and some
of your most meaningful and helpful Scripture verses.
We need your help so we can share a great day of
fellowship and learning.
- MARK YOUR CALENDAR FOR SATURDAY, MAY 1
FALLSTON ANIMAL RESCUE MOVEMENT

Thank you to the congregation for your support of the Fallston
Animal Rescue Movement. We will be collecting again on
Sunday, March 7, 2010. Please save towels and
small blankets. They always need money for vet
bills and can use cat food (wet and dry), no dog
food.
Every three months, on the first Sunday of the month in March,
June, September and December there will be a collection for the
shelter. So start putting your old sheets, blankets and towels in a
bag or box and bring them to church on the first Sunday of March,
June, September & December
2010 - March 7, June 6, September 5, December 5 are collection
Sundays for next year.
Thank you in advance for all the help you give
to our sheltered animals friends.

comfort from daily life. Also those who are in
despair and those who have lost family and
friends.
CANCER
This year according to the American Cancer Society Eleven-
-million cancer survivors will celebrate birthdays this year.
The American Cancer Society spends millions of dollars
each year on research. Increased public education, public
awareness, early detection, and superior treatments have
improved outcomes, diminished suffering and saved lives.
What can you do? Adopt a healthy life style; eat the right
foods, get enough sleep, daily exercise, quit smoking,
minimize alcohol, practice sun safety, eliminate
environmental causes when possible. Understand the
seven warning signs of cancer; unusual bleeding or
discharge, sore that does not heal, change in bowel or
bladder habits, lump in breast or other part of the body, a
nagging cough, a change in moles, difficulty swallowing. If
you notice a change or something is not right see your
physician and let them make the decision as to whether it
warrants more testing.
Early detection is important and yearly heath exams with
regular dental visits are paramount. The American Cancer
Society recommends yearly mammograms after the age of
forty, monthly breast exams, yearly fecal occult blood
samples with a colonoscopy at age fifty, pap smear every
one to two years and a prostate exam with a discussion at
the age of 45.
For more information and education check out
www.cancer.org.
Please feel free to discuss any questions or concerns with a
member of the health ministry team.
